This week, Noobpreneur brings you the last episode in the Future of Publishing mini-series on affiliate marketing.
Here are part 1 and 2.
In this episode, VigLink CEO Oliver Roup finishes his interview with a panel of leading affiliate marketing experts: Bret Grow, Phillip Kidwell, and Gary Warnes. These experts have a variety of backgrounds and work on different sides of the affiliate marketing field, but all of them use their knowledge every day to make positive contributions to their industry.
Highlights:
- Fake data is pretty obvious…
- …even if you don’t know statistics very well…
- …as long as you pay attention to detail!
Starting an affiliate marketing business from home can be a good idea for many entrepreneurs. Skills required include things such as good people skills, good copywriting ability, and good Internet skills like a working knowledge of HTML. You also need to know how to set up and run a website, so you’ll probably have to have a good knowledge of WordPress. Furthermore, you need to understand the sales cycle. Also known as the “sales funnel”, the sales cycle lets you figure out how to market the products you’re selling to different people.
In addition, as an affiliate marketer you have to know how to figure out which products to sell and have a good idea of how to work with merchants (also called “advertisers”) to make sure that you get a good deal. On top of that, you need a desire to make money from home and live an independent and stress-free life, but there’s no such thing as a free lunch: Being an affiliate marketer takes work just like any other job.
